Saluda Trail Middle School Health Fair

March 14, 2026 | Saluda Trail Middle School, Rock Hill

Saluda Trail Middle School is dedicated to educating middle school students and supporting the parents who guide them through these important years. This spring, the school opened its doors for a community health fair, inviting students, families, and local organizations to come together around the shared goal of whole-person wellness.

We were honored to be part of the day. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and the fair gave us a wonderful chance to connect with families who may not yet know what support is available close to home.

How Palmetto Took Part

Therapists Alycia Toohey and Samantha Dudek and Client Services & Accounts Coordinator Kelly Mabe represented Palmetto Counseling at the health fair.

Throughout the day, our team:

  • Shared information about our counseling services and other community resources
  • Led activities that encouraged connection, conversation, and emotional wellness
  • Offered a listening ear to students and families with questions about mental health

Beyond handing out resources, we hoped to help reduce the stigma around asking for mental health support. Every conversation was a chance to remind students and families that reaching out is a sign of strength, and that help is here whenever they need it.

Why We Show Up

At Palmetto Counseling, caring for our community means meeting people where they are. Events like this health fair align closely with our mission of supporting individuals of all ages, families, and the Rock Hill community as a whole through our therapy services.

“Increasing awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging community members to prioritize their emotional well-being are ways we can advocate for a better tomorrow.”
—Alycia Toohey, LMFT, Outreach & Training Manager and Outpatient Therapist, Palmetto Counseling & Consulting

A Memorable Moment

The highlight of the day by far was the students. Kids approached our table with curiosity, asking thoughtful questions about feelings, mental health, and how to get support. Just as meaningful was seeing their parents standing beside them, encouraging those questions and joining in the conversation.

Moments like these give us hope. When young people feel free to talk openly about mental health, and when the adults in their lives support that openness, stigma begins to fade. It’s a powerful reminder that conversations at home and in the community can shape a healthier future for everyone.
