Detective Mike Doty’s Memorial Run

May 2025 and 2026 | Winthrop Lake, Rock Hill

Palmetto is proud to participate in the annual Detective Mike Doty Memorial Run, sponsored by Keystone Substance Abuse Services, an event that brings our Rock Hill community together to honor Doty’s service and raise funds for causes that help people heal.

Remembering a York County Hero

Our founder, Rich Schlauch, therapist Alycia Toohey, and Client Services & Accounts Coordinator Kelly Mabe were proud to represent Palmetto Counseling and join the run to honor Detective Doty alongside our Fort Mill and Rock Hill neighbors.

The annual Mike Doty Memorial Run not only honors a life gone too soon, but also a legacy of action. By coming together as a community to support greater access to care and breaking the stigma of asking for help, we can help prevent more circumstances from turning into tragedies.

Every registration for the event and donation made goes toward mental health resources and care, substance abuse prevention, and community well-being. The impact reaches countless families across our region, reinforcing that help is available and there is no shame in asking for it.

Why This Cause Matters to Us

At Palmetto Counseling, mental health and substance use support are at the core of the care we provide. We walk alongside individuals and families as they navigate some of life’s hardest challenges, and we know how much healing depends on having the right support at the right time.

Events like the Detective Mike Doty Memorial Run help make that support possible. Funds raised strengthen substance use prevention efforts, expand access to care, and remind people that they don’t have to face their struggles alone.

Just as important, events like this open the door to honest conversations about mental health and substance use, helping to reduce the stigma that too often keeps people from reaching out.

Connecting with the Rock Hill Community

Some of the most meaningful moments of the day came from simply being together. Seeing so many people gather at Winthrop Lake to honor Detective Doty’s legacy was a powerful reminder of what Rock Hill is all about: neighbors supporting neighbors and turning remembrance into action.

We’re also grateful to stand with Keystone Behavioral Health, a fellow community provider dedicated to helping people find hope and recovery. Partnerships like this one make our whole community stronger.

“Together, we not only honored a hero, but also raised vital funds for Keystone Substance Abuse Services. Detective Doty’s legacy lives on through our actions — and our community showed up with strength, heart, and purpose.”
