About Andrea
Bringing more than 25 years of experience as a mental health professional, Andrea Whitener joined our team of compassionate therapists in May 2026. She specializes in working with children, adolescents & teens, and young adults, believing that therapy helps to mold these groups, not by erasing the past, but by helping them build the armor necessary to grow and function as psychologically healthy adults.
Andrea found her way to counseling while she was actually studying law. It was when she took on her first mental health position as a residential counselor that she discovered her purpose as a helper. She shifted from pursuing law to wanting to understand and address the needs of those who struggle mentally.
As Andrea’s client, you can expect to feel that you are truly in a safe space. With her warm, fun-loving personality, rapport building happens naturally. For clients with complicated feelings about seeking the help of a therapist, Andrea is passionate about helping you explore the root of those feelings, validating your fears and concerns, and encouraging you to share your expectations of treatment that may have been ignored in the past.
We are proud to have Andrea on our Palmetto Counseling team and confident in the welcoming and transformative space she provides for every client in their journey forward.
