About Sarah
Inspired by her work for The SC Department of Social Services, Sarah became a therapist in 2020 with the mission to make a meaningful impact on more families and individuals in the Carolinas. She joined the Palmetto Counseling team in October 2024.
As a Licensed Independent Social Worker – Clinical Practice (LISW-CP) with 5 years of experience, Sarah offers a compassionate, client-centered approach to therapy for individuals and families of all ages. She specializes in supporting clients through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and life transitions. By integrating evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic Trauma Therapy, Parent-Child Psychotherapy, and play therapy, she tailors interventions to meet each client’s unique needs.
Working with individuals aged 0 to 99, Sarah fosters a safe and inclusive space where clients can reconnect with their inner strength and resilience. Whether you’re navigating personal challenges, processing grief, or managing the impact of trauma, she’s here to help you rediscover your capacity for growth and healing. Sarah is passionate about working with children, adults, and families to create meaningful change and empower moving forward with confidence.
Additionally, she will be offering group therapy sessions for women and teens focused on anxiety, depression, and trauma recovery. These groups are designed to provide a supportive environment for sharing experiences, learning new coping strategies, and building a sense of community.
Sarah believes that, just like a turtle, each person possesses the inner resources they need to survive and thrive — it’s simply a matter of tapping into those strengths and moving forward at your own pace. Her role as a therapist is to support you in uncovering those tools and creating the change you want to see in your life. Committed to providing a warm, non-judgmental space that fosters respect and empowerment, Sarah welcomes clients from all walks of life, including those who identify as LGBTQ+.
If you are seeking support in managing mental health struggles, navigating life’s transitions, or finding healing from trauma, allow Sarah to walk alongside you on your journey toward growth and emotional well-being.

“I’ve loved turtles ever since I learned that turtles move slowly because they have everything they need right there on their back and will go inside when scared or need a rest. It was then that I adopted my new philosophy of slowing down. Slow and steady wins the race.”
—Sarah Hunter, MSW, LISW-CP

About Sarah
Inspired by her work for The SC Department of Social Services, Sarah became a therapist in 2020 with the mission to make a meaningful impact on more families and individuals in the Carolinas. She joined the Palmetto Counseling team in October 2024 and is especially passionate about helping our foster youth restore their feelings of self-determination. A foster parent herself, she’s deeply dedicated to empowering her clients to advocate for themselves.
Using a motivational and hands-on approach, Sarah guides her clients through their processing of complicated feelings and gaining more control over their lives. She understands that therapy can seem scary and overwhelming but encourages clients to open up and trust the process, knowing that she’s on their side, validating their feelings every step of the way.
We’re often in a rush to change, get to the next step, or reach a new goal, but every therapy journey is different and has its own pace. Sarah believes in slowing down, feeling everything, processing, problem-solving, and moving forward.
