About Alaina
Alaina Kemp Chinn became a valued member of Palmetto Counseling’s team in August 2023, bringing her wealth of knowledge, inviting nature, and passion for making a difference in others’ lives. Alaina takes a collaborative approach with her clients and has diverse experience working with children five and up, adolescents, adults, and the senior population. She entered the mental health field in 2011 and has been a practicing clinician for 9 years.
Since graduating college, Alaina knew she wanted to be in a helping profession. She began working with adolescents in long-term residential care, genuinely motivated to help her clients live their lives to their fullest potential. She specializes in trauma and EMDR and enjoys working with clients who are determined to do the work to overcome their experiences.
Alaina is actively engaged in multiple roles in a non-profit adventure program for young adult cancer survivors called Project Koru. She serves as a clinician during the week-long programs and is also part of the program planning committee. As a young adult cancer survivor, this program is near to Alaina’s heart.
By providing a peaceful environment, undivided presence, and a listening ear, her goal is to help clients feel comfortable enough to take down their shields and be open and honest with themselves. Alaina understands the courage it takes to seek help and strives to make her clients feel at home.
It’s always Alaina’s priority to meet a client where they’re at to build trust, allowing for vulnerability and the opportunity to take their hand and walk them through their healing. She believes in self-determination and empowers her clients to identify the abilities they have within them and realize that they are truly the experts in their lives.
As Alaina’s client, you can expect genuine care and a safe space where confidentiality is respected and you’re always free from judgment.
