Alaina Kemp Chinn is a Licensed Independent Social Worker- Clinical Practice in South Carolina. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work at The University of South Carolina. Go Gamecocks! In addition to being a clinician at Palmetto Counseling, Alaina is actively engaged in multiple roles in a non-profit adventure program for young adult cancer survivors called Project Koru. Alaina serves as a clinician during the week-long programs and is also part of the program planning committee. As a young adult cancer survivor, this program is near to her heart.

Alaina is passionate about working with the trauma impacted population, and truly believes in her clients’ individual strengths in their healing process. Since graduating in 2015, she has worked in acute, long term, partial, and outpatient settings, working with children, adults, adolescents, families, groups, and individuals. She has a variety of groups- ranging from substance use, grief, and DBT skills. Alaina has also served in the role of a clinical director, overseen bachelor’s and master’s level students, and has helped create an Intensive Outpatient Program for adolescents. Alaina is EMDR certified and is familiar with several modalities.

When Alaina is not working, she is spending time outdoors or on adventures. Alaina and her husband, Jacob, spend many weekends hiking, kayaking, camping, traveling, and grilling. Alaina is an active leader in her local church, is actively engaged in community outreach, enjoys joyriding in her Jeep Wrangler, and working out on her Peloton bike and tread!
